Thanks Christopher I had done that, however I have just found under Options a field for Hidden Fields in Message Copy which was set to No, so I have changed to Yes and this now works.

This option is supposed to hide the hidden fields from the message copy, not the message to the recipient.
Just pointing it out, in case you don't want to include other hidden fields in the message copy to the form user.
Thanks again.

Firstly, I'm happily using reCAPTCHA to block spammers, or at least spam-bots.
Cathy (manager of another website) uses a hidden field that is empty. She says that spam-bots always fill the field with something, and she can detect that filled field and therefore detect and block the spam.
I see from comments above that the field type HIDDEN is used to collect information but not pass it back to the form originator. This suggests I can't use that field type.
Can you suggest something else?

That's a very smart idea! Genius.
For Rapid Contact ex, I think it would need require some customization in order to make it work like that.
Maybe we could add a #REQUIRE_EMPTY# value for Hidden type fields, so that you could create this field, the way you describe it.
What do you think?
